O-ring gaskets should be handled and installed with lint free gloves, because if they will be installed with bare fingers the user can introduce skin oils, which may harm the effectiveness of the gasket. In addition, the user should not use plastic gloves because they can transfer plasticizers to the surface. The O-rings should not be cleaned with solvents because they will absorb the substances and this will lead to swelling. When gaskets are swollen they are permeable, and this should be avoided. The user should not use ultrasonic cleaning because it causes water absorption. The best way to clean them is with lint-free tissue, and if there are any traces of mold then the user should clean them with a damp tissue.
